The Osseo Area Schools PI Adapted Sports Teams are competitive varsity sports teams for students with physical or health impairments in grades 7-12 from the District 279 schools: Osseo Senior High, Park Center Senior High, and Maple Grove Senior High. Our sports are sanctioned by the Minnesota State High School League (MSHSL). Our practices and games are typically held 3 days a week in a gymnasium at our host high schools. We compete against teams from the Twin Cities and throughout Minnesota, with a team goal of competing at the MSHSL State Tournaments!

Adapted Athletics offered by the MSHSL are a truly unique experience that gives student athletes with disabilities the opportunity to play highly competitive varsity sports for their school (directly or through a co-op). Adapted athletes put in the time, effort and teamwork to compete for the same MSHSL trophies, earn their varsity letter, and most importantly gain the respect from peers in their schools.

Many students who are eligible to participate in adapted athletics are initially hesitant or reluctant to consider joining an “adapted” or “special” team due to a variety of concerns (personal needs, concerns about competition or other fears). Once a student has taken the time to visit a game or practice, any concerns or fears are often put to rest and replaced with excitement to join the team! We’ve also had many parents and students express a lack of interest in sports. We encourage those with no knowledge or interest in sports to take a chance and let the interest develop by participating on a trial basis! The experience of being on the adapted athletics teams has given our students the invaluable physical and personal growth to transition into college, workplace, and the community!
